On the weekend, Queensland Rail's last Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) made its final journey. EMUs were introduced in November 1979 as Queensland's first electric trains, and hold a nostalgic place in the hearts of Queenslanders who grew up from the 80s onwards. Here’s a snippet of home movie footage from the official 1979 launch, showing curious passengers exploring an EMU at Ferny Grove station, along with scenes from the train window as the world whistles by.
