Indian Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) today inaugurated the DHRUV-NG, a 5.5-tonne helicopter at its Bengaluru facility in the presence of country's leadership. Powered by Shakti 1H1C engines, the helicopter has a maximum take-off weight of 5,500 kg, a top speed of 285 km/h, and it can carry up to 14 passengers. The new-generation, twin-engine helicopter is designed for civil and multi-role operations including medical evacuation, offshore services, tourism and search and rescue operations.
