National semifinal berths are on the line in the College Football Playoff. After the 2025-26 CFP kicked off with on-campus games in Round 1, the quarterfinals will be comprised of four major bowl games: the Cotton, Orange, Sugar and Rose Bowls.

The NFL playoff picture has largely taken shape, with 11 of the 14 playoff berths clinched. And the other three playoff berths could all be clinched by Sunday. None of those programs has risen to the level of success that James Madison has established in the Sun Belt since 2022. The Dukes haven't finished with fewer than eight wins over the past four seasons, including a trip to the College Football Playoff this fall.
