Manchester United, Newcastle and Boxing Day

Christine: Man Utd were great in the first half and it was a wonderful goal from Patrick Dorgu. In the second half, we were hanging on by a thread and I couldn't understand the substitutions. By the end of the game, the defence was unrecognisable. We got away with one there. The good thing is we won and on to the next game against Wolves.
With Manchester United's kids getting meaningful minutes, Dorgu having his best game in the shirt, and veterans Manuel Ugarte and Lisandro Martinez stepping up to lead, Amorim won in so many ways on Friday.
The Newcastle head coach oversaw his 200th match, but there was little cause for celebration as familiar failings reared at Old Trafford

The standalone Friday night clash will be broadcasted by Sky Sports in the United Kingdom, both on the Main Event and Premier League channels. Sky’s streaming service NOW TV is another avenue to catch the action, same as Sky Go, but an active subscription is required.
Man United's win over Newcastle on Boxing Day may be Ruben Amorim's most satisfying yet as they overcame a depleted squad.
Amorim may have learned a lesson in the second half, when a handful of substitutions saw United return to their usual system and lose all control of the game. Thankfully for the boss, Newcastle offered very little threat and failed to make the most of their second-half dominance.
It is a sorely needed three points for United, who move fifth in the Premier League, but Newcastle’s struggles on the road persist. It is an even greater boost for United given the raft of first-team absentees: Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, Bryan Mbeumo, and Noussair Mazraoui were all absent either with injuries or due to AFCON.
With a shoestring squad and a tight group of teams in midtable, any dropped points during the festive period could prove to be costly for Manchester United. It'll be even tougher with Newcastle United being one of the teams looking to catch them in the league.
