A three-alarm fire ripped through the Custom House Wharf in Portland Friday night and left two firefighters injured. The fire was first reported at 5:33 p.m. by a crew on the Casco Bay Ferry called in the fire but did not know exactly what was burning.

According to Deputy Chief John Hendricks, one firefighter sustained minor injuries. The fire also damaged and sunk one boat on the waterfront. The Chief says that due to the extensive damage the investigation into what caused the fire will take some time.
Portland Fire and Rescue is reminding residents that personal fireworks are illegal in the city and offering an online reporting tool for New Year's Eve.
