ORIGINAL STORY: A massive fire has broken out in Portland, Maine, according to local alert pages. Videos shared on social media showed heavy flames and thick smoke rising from the waterfront.
Flames and smoke were visible around the Casco Bay Friday night, leaving smokey remains on one of Portland’s iconic wharfs.
Fire investigators said they believe an explosion preceded the Monday night fire and are continuing to investigate the cause.
The fire began at the Outback Garage in Patten early Wednesday morning, authorities said, and spread to an adjacent apartment building.
