Quarterback Gardner Minshew may have avoided a torn ACL, but his knee injury was significant enough that he will miss the rest of the 2025 season.

One week after losing starter Patrick Mahomes to an ACL tear, Chiefs quarterback Gardner Minshew is feared to have suffered a torn ACL, sources told ESPN.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Gardner Minshew injured his knee on the opening drive of Sunday's game. He would eventually be replaced by QB Chris Oladokun.

While it was initially feared that he had suffered a torn ACL, Minshew's ACL is reportedly still in tact. He is, however, still expected to miss time, which likely contributed to the Chiefs signing fellow quarterback Shane Buechele off the Buffalo Bills ' practice squad for the season's final two weeks.
