Treacherous driving conditions continue as winter storm drops sleet, freezing rain on Pennsylvania
A winter storm dumped rain, sleet and rain on the Lehigh Valley Friday, creating icy roads and travel problems.
The freezing rain that created hazardous travel across Southeast Michigan earlier Friday has moved out of the region, allowing conditions to steadily improve through the afternoon.
Motorists traveling on Friday should exercise caution, as hazardous travel conditions are likely in the Harrisburg area.
The frequency of freezing rain is due to North Dakota being in an active weather pattern. “The jet stream has been more in our area,” said Chada. “Instead of straight across the country, it’s the up-and-down kind of pattern, and that just brings more activity.”
Icy conditions across the Flint area have led to some closures and cancellations on Friday, Dec. 26. Among the closures include all branches of the Genesee District Library as well as the Lapeer and Imlay City senior centers. No home delivered meals will take place from either senior center, according to ABC 12.
