EDMONTON –– The Boston Bruins rang in the New Year on a high note. 2026 started with a 6-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday at Rogers Place. It snapped the B’s six-game losing streak, fueled by a three-point showing from David Pastrnak and a 34-save performance from Jeremy Swayman.

Connor McDavid leads the Oilers with 24 goals and 45 assists. Leon Draisaitl has been hot lately, contributing three goals and 15 assists over the past 10 games.

Pastrnak scored twice on six shots, dished an assist and added two PIM in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Oilers.

The Boston Bruins social media team is apparently prioritizing keeping up to date with Happy Gilmore star Adam Sandler over the rest of the NHL.

Brad Marchand was among the 14 forwards. The Florida Panthers star — who was honored Tuesday for reaching 1,000 career points — has never played in the Olympics. The last time NHL players were allowed to play in the Olympics was 2014. Canada won gold, but Marchand was not on the roster.
