Notre Dame and USC are preparing to skip their rivalry game next season for just the second time in eight decades, Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger reported Monday.

On Monday, BYU announced a home-and-home series with Notre Dame. The Cougars will host the Fighting Irish in Provo in 2026. They will make a return trip to South Bend in 2027.According to a release from BYU,

BYU and Notre Dame will play a home-and-home series beginning next season with the Fighting Irish coming to Provo. The Cougars will play in South Bend, Indiana in 2027. BYU and Notre Dame both narrowly missed out on at-large bids to the College Football Playoffs this season.

The USC vs. Notre Dame football rivalry has hit the pause button. However, Notre Dame worked quickly to fill that opening.
