Gardner Minshew injury update: Chiefs QB, Patrick Mahomes' backup, expected to miss rest of season
While it was initially feared that he had suffered a torn ACL, Minshew's ACL is reportedly still in tact. He is, however, still expected to miss time, which likely contributed to the Chiefs signing fellow quarterback Shane Buechele off the Buffalo Bills ' practice squad for the season's final two weeks.
Via Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com, Gardner Minshew likely suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during Sunday’s loss to the Titans. Minshew is set to undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the diagnosis.
Gardner Minshew may have also torn his ACL during the team’s 26-9 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. The injury would leave third-stringer Chris Oladokun as the team’s starter in Week 17 barring a free-agent move. That’s a far cry from where the Chiefs hoped to be in Week 17 entering the season.
Gardner Minshew’s ACL injury leaves Chris Oladokun under center and sends Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, and the Chiefs’ passing game tumbling in Week 17.
