The freezing rain that created hazardous travel across Southeast Michigan earlier Friday has moved out of the region, allowing conditions to steadily improve through the afternoon.

A Winter Weather Advisory, which went into effect for Southeast Michigan, remains in effect until 4 p.m. as freezing rain creates tricky travel this morning.

Drivers could face a treacherous post-holiday commute as forecasters predict freezing rain will sweep across much of the state Friday morning, potentially coating roads, power lines and vehicles with over a quarter-inch of ice in areas.

A strong storm system will sweep across the Midwest late Saturday night through Monday, bringing rain, strong winds, falling temperatures and a risk of power outages across Southeast Michigan.
