A range of NWS alerts were in effect across the U.S. on Monday, including warnings for winter storms, tornadoes and extreme heat.

While much of the country is experiencing warmer-than-average conditions, including dangerous heatwaves, millions of Americans across five different U.S. states are actually dealing with some severe winter weather.

The watch, which covers all of Hampton Roads — reaching up north past Washington, D.C. and extending down to the Outer Banks in North Carolina — is in effect until 7 p.m. Tornadoes are likely in these areas,
