The woman who died following a mountain lion attack after going on a hike on New Year's Day has been identified.

A woman's death on a trail is being investigated as a suspected deadly mountain lion attack, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

She died doing something she loved deeply-hiking and taking in the beauty of Colorado and its public lands,' her family says.

The person who was attacked and killed by a mountain lion in Larimer County on New Year's Day has been identified as a 46-year-old from Fort Collins.
