Volodymyr Zelensky is due to meet President Donald Trump in Florida this weekend, but Russia accused the Ukrainian president and his EU backers on Friday of seeking to ’torpedo’ a US-brokered plan to stop the fighting.

Trump's comments came as US diplomatic efforts intensified ahead of his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Florida.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the United States to put more pressure on Russia to end the war, as diplomats converged on Miami, Florida, for fresh talks. Zelenskyy also said that Washington had proposed the first face-to-face negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in half a year but later expressed scepticism that would help.
