Keep pets safe during Redding and Shasta County floods
As severe flooding hit Redding and Northern California on Christmas week, animal rescuers urged people to keep their pets and livestock safe during storms. "Because pets are not permitted in public (evacuation) shelters ... go to a relative's or friend's home, or find a pet-friendly hotel," the city of Redding announced.
Redding Mayor Mike Littau said a person died after being stuck in a vehicle that was overcome by flood waters in south Redding.
Flooding on Sunday was widespread as heavy rain drenched the Shasta County city: drivers were trapped and homes were flooded in Redding where one person died.
