In case you missed the memo, bowl games have increasingly turned into marketing showcases for all sorts of brands, which pay big-time sponsorship dollars for the privilege and then serve up goofy rituals galore. And with the bowl season moving into its busiest stretch, football fans can expect plenty of hijinks.
Notre Dame, ranked No. 11 in the final CFP rankings, was the first team out of the 12-team field and decided to sit out of bowl season following the CFP snub. Specifically, the Fighting Irish opted out of the Pop-Tarts Bowl and all the fun that comes with it.
The Pop-Tarts Bowl featuring Georgia Tech and BYU was everything right with college football. Which makes Notre Dame utterly wrong for skipping it.
