A Palestinian attacker rammed his car into a man and then stabbed a young woman in northern Israel Friday, killing both, police said, as the Israeli defense minister quickly ordered military retaliation on what he said was the assailant's West Bank hometown.

Two people were killed when a Palestinian man launched a car-ramming and stabbing attack in northern Israel, police said Friday.

The soldier was dressed in civilian clothes and was carrying a gun. After ramming his vehicle into the Palestinian man, the soldier yelled at him before going way. Later, the Israeli military issued a statement said that the soldier acted 'in severe violation of his authority'.
