Detroit Forecast: Timeline for freezing rain, ice accumulation
The Metro Detroit region may see a transition to rain during late morning to early afternoon as temperatures rise above freezing. All precipitation is expected to end from west to east during the late afternoon and early evening hours. Some mist or patchy drizzle may persist into Friday night.

Motorists traveling on Friday should exercise caution, as hazardous travel conditions are likely in the Harrisburg area.
The frequency of freezing rain is due to North Dakota being in an active weather pattern. “The jet stream has been more in our area,” said Chada. “Instead of straight across the country, it’s the up-and-down kind of pattern, and that just brings more activity.”
